Melissa Singletary Selected as Robert Lince Kindergarten Principal
At the end of this school year Melissa Singletary’s tenure as a first-year assistant principal at John Campbell Primary will have been short-and-sweet; 366 days to be exact. That is because she has recently been named the principal of the Robert Lince Kindergarten campus, which will open its doors next fall.
Although construction at the Lince campus is still progressing, with less than a year to go before the building welcomes students, there is a lot of work to be done. As she continues to fulfill her current administrative position at John Campbell, Singletary will also be working toward next year as she will be involved with the planning, developmental discussions, staffing and transition preparations for the new kindergarten building.
A veteran of the Selah School District in her 15th year, Singletary has served students in many roles. In addition to her recent administrative responsibilities, Singletary has worked with students as an ELA Instructional Coach, English Learner Development Teacher, as well as a Reading and Literacy Specialist.
“Melissa has worked very hard as an educator to provide high quality learning opportunities for Selah students,” said Superintendent, Shane Backlund. “Her experience with the District and her established relationships with staff and families will continue to benefit Selah students as she fulfills her work at John Campbell this year, and prepares for the opening of a new Selah school as the leader of the Robert Lince Kindergarten building.”
