Bouncy Houses Now Prohibited on Selah School District Property

August 16, 2019

For years, bouncy houses and other inflatable toys have been a common sight in the community, including on school grounds. EFFECTIVE The Selah School District is banning the use of bouncy houses and inflatable toys on school property. IMMEDIATELY, the Selah School District will no longer allow bouncy houses or inflatable toys on any school property. This includes operation by outside users.

The Schools Insurance Association of Washington will no longer cover liability related to the use of bouncy houses and inflatables. The number of injuries sustained when using bouncy houses is on the rise, primarily in young children whether it’s from falls, collisions, sudden deflation or wind movement. With the lack of insurance coverage, the District is unwilling to accept the risk of liability associated with the usage of the inflatable structures.

Our top priority in the Selah School District is keeping students safe. Thank you for your understanding as the District now excludes bouncy houses and inflatable toys on school property.

If you have any questions, please contact the District at 698-8000.
