District Adds to its Administrative Team

Two New Administrators Selected for Building Positions

Throughout the summer, the Selah School District has continued to add to its leadership team, as Melissa Singletary and Jeff Cochran have been selected as new building administrators.

A familiar face in the District, Melissa Singletary, has been selected as an assistant principal at John Campbell Primary School.  Singletary, a 14-year veteran with Selah Schools most recently worked at John Campbell as an ELA Instructional Coach.  Prior to that, Singletary was the school’s English Learner Development Teacher, as well as Reading, and Literacy Specialist.

A returning Viking, Jeff Cochran, has been hired to serve as an Assistant Principal/Director of Future Learning at Selah High School.  Cochran is also a familiar face to the District as he taught English at Selah High School from 2007-2012.  Most recently, Cochran served as the Director of Innovative and Alternative Education for the Ellensburg School District.

“This summer the District has added two talented individuals to its leadership team,” said Superintendent, Shane Backlund.  “Melissa’s experience with the District and her established relationships with students, parents and staff will continue to benefit Selah families as she serves in her capacity to continue the great work which has been done at the campus.

“We welcome Jeff back to Selah.  His knowledge of the District and community, leadership abilities, and strength in building relationships fit well into our Viking culture and will benefit Selah students and their quality learning experiences.”
