Two Selah High School students are ready to serve as they have been selected as the new student representatives on the District's Board of Directors.

Through an application and interview process, juniors, Addison Flowers and Lauren Rice, have been selected as the new student members on the Board’s panel.  They assume two open positions vacated by graduating student representatives.  Addison and Lauren join senior representatives, Indiana Hilmes and Elise Ozanich, on the leadership panel.     

In addition to their school and community involvement in a variety of activities, the incoming student representatives have specific reasons why they want to serve the Board.

Regarding her service to the Board, Addison Flowers says she enjoys being active in the Selah community and being a student representative to the Board is a great way for her to further participate in her local surroundings.  Addison also says she looks forward to being a voice for her classmates.  

In her role on the Board, Lauren Rice wants to be a presence on the Board and learn how the entity is important to school districts and the community.  Lauren also wants to provide a student voice and perspective in discussions with the Directors.   

The role of the high school representatives is to provide student insight and perspective to the Board of Directors and District administration.  While student representatives do not vote on issues, or help decide policy, they are a valuable liaison between the Board and the student body.  Student representatives began serving on the Selah School Board in 2010.
