Selah Staff Makes Vikonnections!

Making a Vikonnection is definitely a connection to kids!Amy Coats, accounting specialist, makes a Vikonnection with a John Campbell student.

Selah School District staff and students have been making Vikonnections this year—that is an opportunity to Vikonnect with each other.

Aimed at making more connections with kids, Vikonnect is a new opportunity in the District pairing departmental staff with students in a variety of environments and ways.  The program provides staff who do not often have an opportunity to work with kids the chance of forming relationships with students.  Whether it is reading in the classroom with an employee from the District Office, or learning a new skill from a maintenance trade specialist, Vikonnect brings authenticity to the District’s beliefs with meaningful experiences for our students…and staff.

Selah School District Culture Coordinator, Susie Bennett, says the opportunity has been a positive and meaningful experience connecting Vikings.

“Vikonnect provides an opportunity for staff who don’t usually experience the classroom to connect with students,“ said Bennett.  “Staff has the chance to see the positive in our schools, and students from a meaningful relationship with a new adult mentor.  It’s all positive when kids and adults connect.”
