    Athletics/Activities Information

On October 6, 2020 the WIAA released new guidelines for returning our athletes to the playing fields and gyms around Selah.  The new guidelines for returning to high school and middle school sports have gone away from the Phased 1-4 approach, and instead, has aligned with the return to learning measures that take into account the number of new COVID-19 cases every two weeks in Yakima County.  This adjustment has allowed us to begin a revised summer 2.0 period for high school sports only, beginning with Spring Sports on October 12, 2020.  Finally, we are hopeful that middle school competitive sports will start around the same time as when High School competitive sports seasons start.  As this time frame approaches, Mr. Hougan and the middle school staff will be sharing more specific information.

Schedule (4  weeks per season): Each High School Head Coach will be communicating IF they will be holding team activites during this Summer 2.0 time

October 12-Oct 24: Spring sports (Baseball, Softball, Track, Golf, Tennis, Boys Soccer; outside) All Outside for the first week

October 26-31: Transition week for any spring athletes/teams that still want to participate in spring sports (due to the late start for Spring Sports)

Oct 26-Nov 21:  Fall Sports (Football, Volleyball (inside), Girls Swim, Girls Soccer, Cross Country, sideline Cheer & Dance )

Nov 23-Dec 19:  Winter sports (Basketball, Boys Swim, Bowling, Wrestling, competitive Cheer & Dance)

Teams will follow the WIAA guidance and updated documentation that aligns with both the Governor's office, The Yakima Health District, and the WIAA, Updated WIAA Return to Play Document

      1. All PPE and social/physical distancing in this guidance will be followed.
      2. As we are still in high risk ( >75 cases/100,000), cohorts of no more than 6 students will participate in activities in one area.
      3. No contests vs other schools will take place

Each student must be cleared on Family ID in order to participate.

      1. Current Physical taken within the past 24 months
      2. Routine athletic clearance paperwork (athletic code, parent permission, etc.)
      3. COVID-19 Assumption of Risk Waiver

Athletic Guidelines For Grades K - 8 @ Karl Graf Stadium

Here at Selah High School we are pleased to offer many sporting events and extracurricular activities at Karl Graf Stadium.  Our hope is to have as many students and community members at our events as possible.  We strive to ensure that all of these events are fun, enjoyable for all, and most importantly, safe for all spectators and competitors involved.  To accomplish this goal, we ask that you please follow these simple guidelines below as it relates to our children in grades K-8 that attend events here at the high school:

    • ALL K-5 students must be accompanied by an adult
    • Please leave all balls at home. They become a safety issue with a crowd our size.
    • The stadium and high school grounds are not the place for running and rough-play
    • The grass hill is reserved for picnic-style seating. Please avoid rolling or running on the hills.
