Silver and Gold for Selah FCCLA!
It’s all silver and gold as Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students representing both Selah High School and Selah Middle School earned top honors at yesterday’s Region 7 STAR Events Competition and will head to the State conference later this spring.
STAR Events, Students Taking Action with Recognition, are contests in which members compete at the regional, state, and national levels. Students are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.
At the Region 7 contest held in Kittitas, Selah’s Parker Casey, Washington’s State FCCLA President, presided over the event. Additionally, the Selah contingent had 21 members compete in 17 different categories. Each participant or team earned gold or silver rankings to qualify to move on to the State event in March, with an opportunity to advance to Nationals in July. Selah’s student projects ranged from showcasing the work of the Chapter, hosting service events, designing repurposed projects out of old materials, and researching future careers.
