SHS Teacher Honored with State Award!

Even though we are gearing up for a new school year, we still have some great news to share from this summer!

Congratulations to Selah High School Teacher, Maggie Uceny, who earlier in August was honored as the Washington Association for Career and Technical Education (WA-ACTE) New Teacher of the Year Award. Uceny was honored during the association’s summer conference. The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding new teachers who have made significant contributions to Career and Technical Education programs.

Entering her fifth year of teaching in Selah, Uceny always knew she wanted to be a teacher. However, it wasn’t until she realized the impact Family and Consumer Sciences courses had on her life that she decided to continue her love of leadership and teaching and pursue a degree as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Uceny also co-advises the school’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter, which makes a positive impact within the community, region, state and nation. As part of her work at Selah High School, Uceny is passionate in preparing students to work in a career in Early Childhood Education and fulfill their dream of becoming teachers. In addition, Uceny serves on numerous organizations that support Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

Congratulations to Maggie Uceny for her achievement in the field of career and technical education!
