SHS Students Earn State Licensing!

26 Students. 26 Tests. 26 Certificates.

That’s right — every single student in Selah High School’s Home Care Aide Program passed the Washington State licensing exam and is now trained, licensed, and certified to work in the healthcare field! 

These incredible young professionals didn’t just attend class — they committed themselves to learning how to care for others. Through dedication, hard work, and hands-on training, they earned:

6 Professional Certifications

• Core Basic Training

• Safety & Orientation

• Mental Health Level 1

• Dementia Care Level 1

• CPR Certification

• Food Handlers Permit

⏱ 75 hours of DSHS-approved coursework

🧠 Department of Health Knowledge Test — PASSED

🩺 Department of Health Skills Test — PASSED

👐 26 hands-on clinical care skills learned and mastered

📝 Multiple assessments successfully completed throughout the year

Along the way, these students developed real-world healthcare skills including infection control, medication assistance, dementia care, mobility support, nutrition, and protecting client rights. They practiced on each other, supported their classmates, and showed up ready to learn every single day.

The compassion and dedication they’ve demonstrated means the clients they serve will truly be in good hands.
