SHS is on the Rise!

Selah High School Presented with On The Rise Award!

Selah High School is on the rise and has been honored as an inaugural Washington Schools on the Rise award recipient. Notified of the honor this past summer, the formal presentation of the award by the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) and Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) was in October.

The award celebrates schools demonstrating the power of student and adult collaboration on school leadership in order to create a positive school culture with authentic student engagement and elevated student voice and perspectives, while also working to build an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Selah’s nomination for the award was student initiated and noted the collaboration between staff and students to create a positive, supportive and inclusive culture. In the nomination, three standout achievements were highlighted which included the implementation of the school’s Future’s Night, which gives ownership to students to shape their learning paths; the Course Promotion Week, where students can explore classes firsthand; and, the 1/1 Registration Experience, where students meet with counselors to ensure their class selections are what are needed to stay on track academically.

In earning the recognition, Selah High School is only one of eight high schools in the state honored with the award.

Congratulations to Selah High School staff and students for being on the rise!
