SHS Dance Team Earns State Academic Championship!

The Selah High School dance team is definitely in the groove as it has been recognized as the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA ) 2025 Academic State Champions for the 2A Dance and Drill classification.

The WIAA seasonally honors sports and activity specific high school teams and groups who compile an average GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) of 3.0 or higher. “Distinguished” team awards are presented to teams earning grade points between 3.0 and 3.49. Earning “Outstanding” honors are teams with an average GPA between 3.5 and 4.0. From there, the Academic State Championship is awarded to the teams and groups with the highest average GPA for its specific activity and classification.

Selah's squad of dancers deserve a high-kick as in earning the championship, the team posted an impressive grade point average of 3.830. The team is coached by Bethany and Shawna Treat.

This is the third WIAA State Academic Championship Selah’s teams of student athletes have earned this year.
