Ready to Serve!
Two Selah High School juniors are set for service as they have been seated as the new student representatives on the District's Board of Directors.
Through an application and interview process, Charlie Miller and Claire Richards, have been selected as the new student members on the Board’s panel. Charlie and Claire join senior representatives, Addison Flowers and Lauren Rice, as the Board’s student leaders.
In addition to their school and community involvement in a variety of activities, the incoming student representatives have specific reasons why they want to serve the Board.
Regarding her service to the Board, Charlie says she would like to serve as a student representative because she wants to be a voice for all students. Also, Charlie says taking on this role would help her gain valuable leadership skills such as in the areas of communication, teamwork, and public speaking.
In her role as a representative to the Board, Claire says during her past 11 years as a student in Selah, she has realized that she would like be involved at the District level so she can better see how decisions are made that impact our community. Claire also stated that her service to the Board would allow her to raise her voice as a representative to ensure that all students are given the best resources to succeed.
The role of the high school representatives is to provide student insight and perspective to the Board of Directors and District administration. Student representatives began serving on the Selah School Board in 2010.
