Honoring Those that S.E.R.V.E.

History was on display as Selah High School S.E.R.V.E. students (Students Enacting Respect for Veterans’ Experiences) were honored for their continued service, dedication, and collaboration with military partners.

During the event, the base commander at the Yakima Training Center presented certificates to S.E.R.V.E. students in recognition of their volunteer work at base events—most recently, the Easter festivities.

S.E.R.V.E. students engage in living history experiences by wearing historical military uniforms and helping bring key moments of military history to life through demonstrations and presentations. Their work helps tell the stories of thousands of Americans who have dedicated a portion of their lives to service, while also creating meaningful connections between generations.

Beyond preserving history, S.E.R.V.E. is rooted in respect—ensuring veterans know that younger generations honor and appreciate their service and sacrifice. One of the highlights of the year is the Veterans Day Assembly at Selah High School, where these same students help lead powerful tributes to those who have served.

The program is led by Selah High School history teacher Bryan Dibble, whose guidance continues to shape students into respectful stewards of history.
