Selah Students Enjoy A Taste of Washington

It was definitely delicious for Selah students to begin the month of October, as their taste buds enjoyed a taste of Washington specially served on the lunch menus.

October 2, Taste Washington Day is an annual event used to showcase school meal menus which are loaded with state and locally grown ingredients. On Selah menus this day, middle school and high schoolers enjoyed Angus Burgers with Fuego Chees sauce and Bacon Apple Jam, while students at Robert Lince, John Campbell, and Selah Intermediate, feasted on an Angus Cheeseburger with Bacon Apple Jam. Side dishes include Washington fresh cauliflower and Sweetie and Fuji apples. Students at Selah Middle School were even served an added treat as Superintendent, Kevin McKay and Principal, Marc Gallaway, joined them for lunch, so they too could enjoy a taste of Washington.

Promoted by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Washington School Nutrition Association, Taste Washington Day celebrates the connection between farms and schools and highlights state grown food like grass fed beef, dairy and fruits and vegetables that are served in school meals. Events like Taste Washington provide students the chance to enjoy the rich diversity of healthy and delicious foods from our State.
