A Fiesta of Fun at John Campbell!

It has been a fiesta of fun during October at John Campbell Primary School as students and staff celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month. National Hispanic Heritage month is annually observed in the United States from September 15 to October 15, and recognizes the contributions and influences of Hispanic Americans, celebrating their culture, work, achievements and impact on history.

On October 15 students and staff celebrated the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month.  As part of the festivity, first grade students took to the stage to present to their schoolmates an influential Hispanic figure. Students recited facts about their chosen individual in both English and Spanish. Additionally, second graders performed a cultural dance traditionally performed at celebrations in Mexico. Ensuring they were in-step, dancers used their recess time during the last few weeks to perfect their lively routine. Also, all audience members showcased their vocal skills in a sing along of the Viking Pride song in the dual languages of English and Spanish, and a few lucky students were drawn to win a Spanish read-along and illustrated book.

Definitely a fiesta of fun for John Campbell learners!
