Viking Promise

 

The Viking Promise is the name of the strategic priorities in the Selah School District. Initially implemented in 2019, the Viking Promise was revised in 2025 to provide further clarity to the district’s purpose and responsibilities to students, families and the community.

The goal of The Viking Promise has not changed as we strive to meet the needs of the whole child by creating an EQUITY centered, ENGAGING and PERSONALIZED learning experiences in an emotionally and physically SAFE environment for each child in Selah.  The Viking Promise is composed of four priorities:  Rigorous and Engaging Classrooms, Family and Community Engagement, Future Ready and Student Experience.

Ensure student learning by creating Rigorous and Engaging Classrooms through growth producing relationships, lesson clarity and challenge to create learning environments where each child will thrive. 

Through our Together We Can Family and Community Engagement model, help provide the support and resources to build partnerships that meet the needs of every unique family dynamic.

Enact a Future Ready approach to learning by utilizing technology and incorporating our Portrait of a Graduate vision and 21st Century Skills into our program design and delivery.

The district will be spending the 2025-26 school year developing the details associated with the Student Experience priority.
