We are changing our social media practices for students at Selah School District. Student Chromebooks (grade 6-12) will now have social media blocked at home and at school. We used to leave the social media sites open for students when not at school. Moving forward, if you wish to allow your student to have access to social media sites at home from their Chromebooks, you can go into your SecURLy Parent Portal and change the security permissions.
SecURLy sends a weekly email to parents/guardians on Wednesdays that contains a summary of their student's internet activity. There are instructions in the email on how to create an account with SecURLy and then login and see more detailed information. Once logged into SecURLy, a parent can toggle the social media category on if they wish.
If a you are not receiving the weekly email, you will need to confirm with the school office that your valid email is on file in our student information system. Once we add your email in, you should then receive the weekly summary email and the instructions on how to create an account.
If you have any questions regarding this change or getting set up with an account, please contact your school’s technology coordinator.
